David Crombie Park Revitalization

(In Progress)

Stretching across seven downtown blocks, the revitalization of David Crombie Park reimagines one of Toronto’s most cherished linear parks through community-driven, inclusive, and sustainable design. Tawâw Architecture Collective leads the Indigenous design and engagement, embedding sacred spaces, the Seven Sacred Teachings, and opportunities for ceremony and storytelling into the landscape. Designed in collaboration with SLA and Arcadis IBI Group, the project centers Indigenous placekeeping, cultural continuity, and ecological renewal. The design prioritizes low-carbon strategies, reuses existing materials, and enhances biodiversity, all while preserving the park’s historic character.

In 2024, the project was honored with The Pineapples Award for excellence in placemaking, recognizing its innovation, cultural integrity, and commitment to a more just public realm.
